Devlog # 1
Ey! It’s the first release update for Remnants of the witch! While gameplay wise this update doesn’t add much, It did change a lot of bugs and issues I found since the initial release. I’ll go over each note and what it entails, so you can get a clear-cut thought process Lets begin.
ROTW 0.2.4 Update notes
-reworked the Park and Lake to be smaller
I felt the Lake and especially the Park to be overly spacious, so I cut them down which will cut down on travel time, and players getting lost.
-added extra dialogue to some NPCs after completing the first dungeon
After clearing the first dungeon some NPCs will change their dialogue, a small detail, but one I feel is important in the long run.
-changed the casting text for most skills
Using skills in combat had generic boring descriptions, which I decide to replace with more varied ones, that are unique to most skills
-fixed cafe skip
This is fairly simple, I found out in testing that you were able to enter the bookstore before talking to Fulcher, which is now fixed.
-fixed Lucile portraits
This one is a little embarrassing honestly, I simply forgot Lucile had heterochromia. Its a detail I haven’t thought about for a while, but her portraits are to fixed to show it.
-Added hangout for Wendi, and Lucile and 2nd rank for Lee and Isidora
This is the proper meat of the update as I see it. I added brand new hangout events for the characters above, including new rewards to go along with them. If someone out there wanted a hangout event for Maxwell, sorry you’ll have to wait.
-Isidoras rifle is now upgradable
Before Isidora’s rifle was non-upgradable but now it is! This is another one I kinda just forgot about, like Luciles heterochromia.
-fixed mall early leave dialogue
In the opening scene outside the mall there were event tiles to stop you from leaving early, but they weren’t functioning properly and just blocked your movement. They now work properly, with the character stopping themselves and turning around.
-fixed upgrade pricing
Another small mistake, the text declaring the price of a weapon upgrade was not actually synced up with the amount of money removed from the player. This is no longer the case.
-Now playable in browser
So heres the big one! The game is now playable in browser! It some file deleting to get it to work, but it does! I can’t see the completed ROTW being fully playable in a browser, it is nice for people to just be able to play the first hour or so of the game without downloading anything!
So thats the 0.2.4 update, a fairly sizable one if I say so myself! The next update isn’t probably gonna be for a while because I’m gonna work on the writing for future story events more, but I still have a plan in mind.
You can expect the next update to be polishing one, fixing bugs and filling in gaps of content that were missing. However after that update will be the big one! The second story mission, which I plan to be at least twice as long as the first!
These updates will also be accompanied by art/UI updates, as I’ll slowly replace RPGmakers default assets with my own.
